THE FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SPORTS LEGENDS AWARDS

The 15th Annual Sports Legends Awards, presented by The Paralysis Project of America, honored Olympic gymnastics greats Bart Conner (USA) and Nadia Comaneci (Romania), pro football's Willie Davis (Green Bay Packers), Olympic swimming's Donna de Varona (USA), Olympic and professional volleyball's Karch Kiraly (USA) and horse racing's Alex Solis (Panama), in ceremonies held Saturday, Feb. 25, at The Omni Hotel in Los Angeles.

The festivities included a special tribute to former Utah Jazz great, all-time NBA assists leader and two-time Olympic gold medalist John Stockton, who was presented the annual John R. Wooden Lifetime Achievement Award by Coach John R. Wooden. The awards ceremony was hosted by television, film and stage actress, producer and author Florence Henderson, who co-stars in the upcoming sixth season of VH1's "The Surreal Life" (premiering March 19).

Former Los Angeles Dodger pitching great Don Newcombe, a former Sports Legends Award winner and current co-chair of the Paralysis Project of America's Sports Council, was recognized for his dedicated service to the organization and awards dinner.

Competitor Magazine publisher Bob Babbitt also was honored as The Shoemaker Media Awareness Award recipient for 2006, in recognition for success inraising media awareness of the spinal cord injured.

Ann Meyers Drysdale
Recently appointed as NBA’s Suns Vice President and WNBA’s Mercury General Manager, she has also recently been named by FIBA (International Basketball Federation) as one of their Hall of Fame Inductees for 2007!

Ann Meyers Drysdale helped lead the Phoenix Mercury to the 2007 WNBA Championship by defeating Detroit in a hard fought battle.
