Due to the lack of governmental funding for paralysis research, financial support is sought from corporations, individuals and foundations through annual fundraisers led by celebrity athletes and corporate leaders on the Paralysis Project Sports and Business Councils.
With support from professional sports teams and the entertainment industry, Paralysis Project produces the annual Sports Legends Awards Show honoring the greatest athletes in history, from Olympic champions to Hall of Fame inductees. Paralysis Project is also the exclusive charity of the Long Beach Marathon and plays host to several golf tournaments each year.
